Death by cute robot
by Kenny on January 16, 2012

I like to imagine that these silicone robot cupcake molds are evil robots that eat you when powered by cupcake batter.
Huge thank you to Lauralee for her thoughtful thank-you gift. She didn’t need to, but I love them!
Favorite quotes from the packaging:
Take me to your eater!
And
I show you rear panel!
P.S. The heads swivel.
Stories from my grandpa: Battle of Dutch Harbor
by Kenny on January 16, 2012
Here’s the next vid from Grandpa’s storytelling. Most of us in the family have heard a variation of this story in one form or another, but it’s surprising that his stories never get old for me. He tells of another time that he was transferred away from a gunner position the day before that gun post was destroyed.
I cringe inside when he mentions the guys around him that didn’t make it home. I don’t like to watch him see the memories in his head. I can tell he’s trained himself to not dwell on them too much and to move on and think of something else. He also does it, I’m confident, so that he doesn’t have to pass on those memories to his family. I’m grateful for his discretion, despite my natural curiousity.
Challenge accepted
by Kenny on January 15, 2012

Friends Zach and Heather know something about my preference for somewhat adventurous dates. They gave me these his and hers Snuggies with the caveat that I use them somewhere, somehow on a date and that I send them a picture or video as proof. They don’t care if they remain intact or if I repurpose them.
Naturally, challenge accepted. Future date, I hope you like fleece (Heather hates it). Also, I hope you like feeling comfortable and warm in my presence. The Snuggie will take of most of that, but I’ll be there too, within easily accessible arm’s reach.
Stories from my grandpa: Christmas Growing Up
by Kenny on January 9, 2012
I was fortunate to visit my grandpa in Oregon this last Christmas. He’s 88 and still as rad as ever. It had been too long since I’d seen him so I made it top priority. We asked him to tell some stories from his life while we all listened. It’s a real gem for those of us in the family. And, as usual, he gets in a couple of jokes.
My favorite part from the time I could spend with him during my visit was sitting in his house, watching him watch TV by the warmth of his wood stove. Like most of his age and era, he’s seen a lot of brutality and pain in his life, suffered poverty and misery, yet he managed to come out of it all with a loving soul and a temperament that’s quick to smile and slow to anger. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all admire him for his steady hand through the years. He misses Grandma, yet I’m so thankful he’s still around for me. He is a major part of my inspiration to build and make things, and to give freely to other people of my time and talents.

I’ve heard of this party for years. This time, I made it here. The anticipation and costumes are killing me! Bring it on, white elephant santa kissing(whaaaa!) party. I will now know the truth of the rumors!
Fantastic Christmas card via the Clasons
by Kenny on December 9, 2011

Just received this awesome Christmas card from Becca and Josh. Family Infographic review of 2011? Handwritten address? Ironic winter photograph? Matching colors on the postage stamp? Little hand drawn tree above the seal? Asymmetrical number of vector Christmas trees in the infographic header? Zero cavities?
Yes x 7 = Thanks Clasons!
Merry Christmas!
Pizza Dream

I wasn’t actually yelling out loud when I woke up, but I’ve kind of always wanted to wake up screaming like in the movies. Next time, I’ll use spicier pepperoni.
Dan is a friend from my days as an EFY counselor. He’s a champ, despite never responding to this facebook message that I sent him.
10 Print Love, 20 Goto 10

A piece I made as a gift for my friend Amanda’s wedding. I’m assuming, two months later, that she has opened it and this won’t be a spoiler. Her new husband, Jim, is a software engineer.
